A Ph.D and adjunct professor from the University of Tampere, Finland, Mika Aaltola is the visiting professor during 2006-2008. Mika has worked as associate professor in the same University since 2000. His research areas include IR theory, U.S. and Finnish foreign policy, international health governance, diseases and politics, border practices, political pedagogy, politics of humanitarian aid, politics of memory, and political religion.
During Spring 2007, he taught courses on International Relations and the politics of lethal epidemic diseases.
Mika received the University of Tampere's Science Fund Award for the Best Dissertation at the University of Tampere, 1998-1999. and the Finnish Political Science Association Award for the Best Masters Thesis in Political Science in Finland in 1995. Mika serves as President of the Finnish International Studies Association and as board member of the Finnish Political Science Association.
