Pauliina Raento
Pauliina Raento was the Current Government of Finland/David and Nancy Speer Visiting Professor in Finnish Studies and Visiting Associate Professor in Geography from 2003 until 2005. She is a human geographer with interests in political and cultural geography, the geography of leisure and recreation, and visual methodologies.
Pauliina received her Ph.D. in Basque Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1996 and has since taught at the University of Helsinki, where she is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography. She now works as an Academy of Finland Senior Research Fellow. She has served as Editor in Chief of Terra, the Finnish- and Swedish-language journal of the Geographical Society of Finland and as co-editor of the 100th-anniversary edition of the Atlas of Finland (1999 and 2002). Her work has appeared in Geografiska Annaler B, Annals of Tourism Research, The Geographical Review, Names, Political Geography, Space & Polity, and several edited volumes, in English and Finnish.
